Bournemouth is one of England’s biggest beach resorts. It thrives on tourism during the warm summer months, and its 7 miles of sandy beaches are full of locals and tourists. One of the beaches main attractions is the walk from Bournemouth to Boscombe Pier. This walk takes you past a great selection of restaurants and cafes in which you can take a break for a cuppa. There are still old-fashioned beach huts that can be rented for the day – the oldest one in the world is still in existence on Bournemouth Beach.
Veering off of its famous beach, Bournemouth has so much more to offer in the way of nightlife, culture, theatre, kids pantomimes, and ballets. The city is bustling all year round, but certainly becomes a lot busier during the summer months.
For something a little more tranquil, the public Bournemouth Gardens are worth a visit; they have earned the Green Flag award since 1999, stretching from Bournemouth pier to the border of Poole. Wimborne Minster sits just outside of Bournemouth, it is not a museum, but home to many treasures of the past. The famous New Forest is only a 20-minute car journey from the city centre, it covers an area of unenclosed pasture for cattle, and is full of fauna including deer, birds, ponies, pigs and many more. Back in the city, a rainy day could take you to Molly’s den which boasts 16000 square feet of antiques and retro objects, stopping in Molly’s kitchen for a bite to eat before heading back to the hotel.
